Privacy summary

How Turnout handles your information while it is in beta, in plain words.

Draft wording, pending legal review. Last updated 12 October 2026.

What is saved

With an account: your name, your email address, how you sign in (an emailed code, Google or a password), and what you tell Turnout as you use it. That is your assessment answers, roadmap progress, course sign-ups, experience entries, favourite departments, the applications you track (the departments, stages, dates, notes and checklist you enter) and the map location you choose.

In Study, when you make study material from your own course material: the notes, study guide, slides, photos or file you add are read by an outside AI service (Anthropic) to make your cue cards and questions, and are then discarded. Turnout does not keep them. PDF and Word files are read on your device and only their text is sent. What is kept is the study material made from them, saved privately to your account, along with a count of how much of the monthly allowance you have used. Only you can see your courses, and deleting your account deletes them.

In the Resume tool: the resume you upload is read in your browser and the file is not kept. The draft you build (your contact details, summary, experience, certificates, education, references and any job posting you paste) is saved privately to your account, with the versions you make for departments. Word and PDF files are made on your device. If you choose the AI polish, the text of your resume (and any job posting you add) and a short summary of your answers (goal, certificates, licence, fitness and city, with no name, email or phone number) are sent to an outside AI service (Anthropic) to sort and rewrite it, and are then discarded. Turnout keeps only the result you accept, saved to your account with a count of how many polish runs you have used this month. Only you can see your resume, and deleting your account deletes it.

On the Networking board: the display name you choose, your posts and replies, your upvotes and any reports you send. Posts and replies, with your display name, can be read by everyone who has access to the preview. Your account name and email are never shown there. If you delete your account, your display name is released and your posts and replies stay on the board as "Deleted member". Delete them first from Your posts if you want them gone.

Passwords and sign-in codes are handled by the sign-in service and are never readable by Turnout. Sign-in codes and other account emails are sent through an email delivery service (Resend). If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with Turnout and nothing else: Turnout never sees your Google password, contacts or other Google data. Turnout does not use Google for advertising or analytics. Without an account, everything stays in your own browser and nothing is sent.

Where it is kept and who can see it

Account information is kept in a database provided by Supabase. Only you can read your saved answers and progress while signed in. The person running the Turnout beta can reach the database to keep it working and to help with a problem you report.

Nothing is sold, shared for advertising or used to build a profile for anyone else. Turnout does not use advertising or tracking tools. It keeps anonymous counts of how many times each page is opened and how many visits there are each day, to see what is being used. Those counts hold no names, no IP addresses, no cookies and nothing that identifies a person, and browsers that send Do Not Track are not counted.

The beta waitlist

Joining the waitlist saves your email address, the date and the exact wording you agreed to, and which link brought you to the page. If you choose to answer the two optional questions, those answers are saved too, and so is a personal share code. If you joined through a friend's link, their code is saved so they can move up the list.

The list is kept in a private database that no one can read from the website. It is used only to send beta emails: when your invite is ready and a few updates. It is never sold or shared. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe on the unsubscribe page. To have your entry removed completely, send a message with the Feedback button or reply to any beta email.

Other things to know

Maps. The map pictures come from OpenFreeMap. Like any website, it can see the area being viewed and your internet address.

Resumes. A resume you add is read in your browser. The file itself is not uploaded or kept. Only the items you confirm are saved.

Age. Turnout is for people who are 18 or older. It is not meant to collect information from anyone younger.

Feedback. The Feedback button sends your message, the page you were on, your screen width and the email you choose to add. It is kept privately so the problem can be fixed and answered.

Outside Canada

The outside services Turnout uses for AI processing, email, sign-in and hosting may handle information outside Canada, so it can be subject to the laws of those places. Where a service handles your information is set by that service, and this summary does not promise a location for any of them. The same goes for how long an outside service holds what it receives: that is set by its own terms, not by Turnout.

Deleting your information

On Profile, choose Delete my account. That removes your login and what is saved to it: your answers and progress, your study courses, your resume and your usage counts. Some things stay: posts and replies on the Networking board remain as "Deleted member", and feedback you sent and any waitlist entry are kept unless you ask for them to be removed. Signing out only ends your session on that device.

This is a plain-language summary for the beta. It is not legal advice, and it will be reviewed and replaced with a full privacy policy before Turnout opens to the public. Questions, corrections or requests to remove something: turnoutfireapp@gmail.com. Using Turnout is also covered by the terms of use and disclaimer.
